Tupolev PJSC completes works for small-scale modernization of the Tu-95MC initial batch

Tupolev PJSC (part of the UAC of Rostec State Corporation) announces the completion of small-scale modernization of the initial batch of Tu-95MC strategic missile carriers.

The small-scale modernization of the initial batch of Tu-95MC aircraft was completed in March 2020. The goal of the program was to partially replace obsolete radio equipment and navigation systems with modern ones.

The main work was carried out from 2018 to 2019 at the production facilities of Tupolev PJSC and Aviacor-Aviation Plant JSC. In early 2020, the companies jointly began to conduct small-scale modernization of the next batch of aircraft.

At the same time, Tupolev PJSC together with Beriev Aircraft PJSC finished the work for construction of the first fully modernized Tu-95MCM and began the development work on upgraded systems.

Tu-95MC is a strategic missile carrier, a modified version of the Tu-95 aircraft. It is the world's fastest production turboprop aircraft - missile carrier. As part of a large-scale program for the modernization of aircraft systems of strategic and long-range aviation, Tupolev PJSC is currently solving tasks to increase the efficiency of use and extend the life of the Tu-95MC strategic bomber in the interests of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
